Stories: It’s a way to a child’s heart!

My kids always complained that I am not a good story-teller, and in our household, it is the job of their father to take them to a dream land where anything is possible, where you “create” animals/ situations/ consequences/ events 😊.

“Why don’t you ever tell us stories like Nani?” – this would be one constant complain my boys would have for me. On the onset- I would dismiss saying that either I am tired, or I am not good at it, or I want papa to do this at the least 🙄! but the fact that looking at their father bond with them over stories and having giggles & rolling with laughter was something I would never trade for the world… 💖

This daily event of nagging and complaining led me thinking- why only dreamland? Why not tell my boys “THEIR” stories- share the childhood they might not remember clearly when life ‘happens’-? And this gave birth to my baby venture “Bumchikens!” (The name also has a very funny and fond memory attached to it and someday, I would share that as well with the world😊).

Not just memories- but there is a common pattern of ‘understanding our parents quite late’ which I wanted to erase… Am sure you must have heard – “Jab khud Maa-Baap banoge na, tab samajh ayegi” (you’ll understand our situation when you’ll be parents too), and this venture is an honest effort to bridge that gap for my kids. I want to pen down my emotions and feelings, hoping that it would serve them in understanding their mother, once they grow up a little 💖.

And while doing so, if it helps other parents and children in their life- what more could I ask for ?
